WAG2 has been running since May 2023 limited to 12 people. We meet on the first Wednesday of the month in the evenings(drinking in the day did not seem right or so much fun) Karen is our wine expert and Helen is the host.
We aim to try 6 wines which are picked by grape, region or country or pairing with food.
Evaluation charts are done for each season so you can decide if you like the wines. We suggest taking a picture of the label so it can pick it out in the wine shop or supermarket.

2025 saw us going to Rutland Vineyard for a tour and a tasting season.

Usually once a year we have a free for all evening when members pair up
and bring a bottle of their choice that you would recommend to friends. We were lucky to be outside for this event.

In October 2025, 7 of us went to Germany to the Rheingau region sight seeing and wine tasting which was interesting especially when the host demonstrated how different light can change the taste of the wine, mind blowing.

Our last tasting in 2025 was cocktails ,I know we are now branching out to alcohol
in general, only on this occasion ,we are back to wines in 2026

WINE APPRECIATION GROUP 2 have been out and about again June 2026

This time nearer to home, We were wine tasting at Buckden Towers outside in the knot Garden if fine, but it was a bit windy so indoors in the room that Katherine of Aragon was imprisoned for a year.
Hosted by Williams Family Wines who are based in Buckden. The five vineyards they use are in various UK counties, but the fermentation and maturing is done in Buckden. On arrival we were greeted with glasses(yes more than one) of sparkling wine.

Then inside to start on the first of the 5 wines accompanied by cheese and cold meats.
I think the WAG’s were pleasantly surprised at the quality of the wine, with the various methods and grapes a lot of lovely flavours to savour. What also made the visit so enjoyable was our hosts Nick and Julia who were lovely and knowledgeable .
